Top 10 Things to Consider When Choosing a Hotel

Whether for vacation or business travel, you should pay attention to some points before choosing the hotel where you will stay.  Generally, if your destination is not very small, there will be dozens of accommodation places. These hotels have very different features from the number of stars to the concept. For this reason, it is possible to have difficulty in choosing a hotel. Let's say you have chosen your hotel, you should make sure that you find the hotel that suits your wishes. A happy travel experience is everyone's right, whether for business or leisure. As Döngel, we have researched the 10 most important points to be considered when choosing a hotel, which can answer the question of what should be considered in hotel selection in order for our visitors to have the best possible accommodation experience.

Location

The location of the hotel may be very important to you. For business travelers, you may prefer to be close to your destinations or have easy access to transportation. Is it close to all the places you plan to visit? Is it easily accessible? Both are important for a good stay.

It is of course important that the accommodation is perfect. Depending on the purpose of your trip, the criteria for excellence may vary. For example, a hotel across the street from the hall where you will be giving a seminar could be the perfect opportunity.  It is also possible that you prefer places with intense nightlife. In this case, it is best to choose a hotel close to such places. This way you can save on taxi costs. On the other hand, if you prefer a quiet place away from the noise of the city, the location of the hotel should be suitable for these features.

Parking lot

If you are visiting by car or will be renting a car at your destination, check the parking situation. Is there a parking lot or will you have to park and walk? Also, is parking paid? If so, you should take into account any additional charges that may arise if your stay is extended.

Additional Fees

Be sure to consider any other additional charges you may have to pay during your stay. Is internet included or additional? This is the most common add-on fee to consider, Other common additional charges that may surprise you include early check-in, use of mini-fridges, use of the gym, luggage holding and towel replacement costs.  Also calculate the costs of additional services that are not included in the services you receive.

Number of Stars

The number of stars of the hotel you will stay in may not always be directly proportional to the quality. However, it is still an important criterion.  Comparing several different hotel options against each other for star rating can help you make a wise decision.

Services, Facilities offered

Is there a work desk in the room? Is free wi-fi service available? TV, safe, minibar, kettle for hot drinks, slippers, extra towels, hair dryer, personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, sewing kit? If available, how much does it cost?

Meal Options

Make sure to find out if breakfast is free or complimentary and if not, what the cost is.   Also, if you don't want to go out to eat every night, you may want to see what restaurant options the hotel has on site.

Suitability for Family Accommodation

If you are taking your family on a trip, you will definitely want to see how family-friendly the hotel is. If you want your children to enjoy their stay, this is a must.

Animal Friendly

If you have a pet that you want to bring on a trip, find out clearly if this will be a problem so that you don't have a headache.

Institutionalization and Reliability

A member hotel of a hotel chain may give you a greater sense of reliability. On the other hand, keep in mind that hotels that do not have such a characteristic may very well meet your expectations.  Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, so this will be a personal decision.
